Cuso International
Dec 10 2010
Susan Evans went to the Congo in 1969 as an English teacher with SUCO - the Canadian francophone branch of CUSO-SUCO at the time. She extended her stay and worked with women's groups in rural areas of the Congo that had been affected by the 1960 - 1967 civil war.
Susan has continued to be active in development and humanitarian issues ever since. She is now a part of the 'Seeds for Malawi' project started by former CUSO-VSO volunteers and sponsored by the Salt Spring Island Garden Club. The project helps families dealing with AIDS in rural Malawi. To find out more information about this project please visit: wwwseedsformalawi.org
Susan spoke with Mark Manns, a CUSO-VSO volunteer, at the 50th Anniversary event at UBC on December 4, 2010.
This podcast was recorded during CUSO-VSO's 50th Anniversary Kick-off celebrations in Vancouver, BC. CUSO-VSO is proud to honor 15,000 volunteers and 35 million service hours in over 40 countries. The views expressed in these podcasts do not necessarily reflect the views of CUSO-VSO or its supporters. At CUSO-VSO, we believe we are changing the world, one volunteer at a time.
